As an employer, have you considered the positive influence you could have on the next generation of workers? Our Workit system is currently used by 24 local authorities across Scotland to manage their school work placement programmes. By offering work placements, your business can introduce young people to the world of world and help shape their future. You may even find future employees.

A successful placement can help raise attainment and motivation and improve the employability skills of young people. It is an integral part of the Scottish Government's Developing the Young Workforce policy.

Most young people taking part in their school’s work placement programme are aged 14 to 17 and for many a work placement is their first experience of a workplace. They will have many things to learn that are second nature to you, such as being on time, dressing appropriately, dealing with customers and working with colleagues.

You could provide a young person with invaluable skills and knowledge that will boost their confidence and help them onto a successful career path.

The information in the following sections explains what is involved in offering a work placement. It also covers the process and requirements for before, during and after a placement. If you decide at any point that you're interested in offering a placement, click the 'Get Involved' button!
