Workit has allowed us to work in collaboration with students, teachers and employers to find positive work placements for our young people.
Colin Gracey from Berwickshire High School has been using Workit for a number of years and finds it a very positive experience. He feels the Workit team are incredibly supportive, and the system allows teachers, employers and students to work in collaboration to support young people to find new placements.
Colin tested the upgraded Workit with a number of pupils and found the improvements very positive. He feels the key to using Workit is planning and making students aware of their responsibilities in finding relevant placements. He also highlighted that many of his students have obtained summer jobs and employment through their work placement.
Colin feels that as they are part of a rural community, work placements have helped them build partnerships with local businesses that have created more opportunities, such as company insight days.
Colin said that work experience also helps to reinforce their school values and build employability skills for young people both in the community and further afield. He noted that with the success of work placements they have since built a flexible working curriculum which allows students to use work experience with the support of Workit as part of their senior curriculum.
